Robotic milking

And I thought only the Cornish did sarcasm 🤣
Milking time here 🤗
That brings back memories...we milked in a 28 standing (14 each side) & six units up until we fired up a new parlour a few days before Christmas ‘99. So simple & basic, virtually nothing to go wrong. Vacuum pump & diaphragm milk pump.

Looking for some practical thoughts on retrofitting robots into this set up. Initial discussions with one company only so far. Area 1 fit channels and two robots. Area 4 is calving pens and work well, convert it to cubicles and calve in area 3 instead. Things go well consider area 2 for more. 107 cubicles in shed. 103 in right hand shed. Getting my head around cow flow is taking a bit.

Ok thank you. My concern would be that the robot's are so close to the slurry lagoon. Flies and smell.
Would there be enough room at the other end of the cubicles?
The other end would need cubicles taken out but so would the other anyway. The slurry channel goes all the way to the calving pens the now as return footbath race so not to far to extend for robots at top end. The end away from lagoon was suggested on Monday, just thinking there’s less potential fresh individual spaces.

Could then put cubicles in where the parlour is currently unless you're keeping it?
Parlour would go. Was at a new unit on Wednesday with 5 robots and he still put 28 through the parlour every day. Area 4 would actually work really well from a fitting and sited point. Would flow be ok not on end of cubicles?

I would keep area 4 as calving pens. Looks like more people movement around that area to keep an eye on things. Then they would be handy to put in the robot at that end of the shed.
Maybe office above the robot as well?

Flow would be fine imo. Put calving pens/separation area/extra cubicles where parlour and collecting yard is, the calves are handy to move into calf house. A neighbour has 3 robots and milks 40 odd in the parlour, would be better selling 40 tail enders, wouldn't see much of a drop in the bulk tank.
