Go for it. More even emergence, better efficacy from pre-em, more uniform weed control, moisture retention, harder for the crows, etc etc.

I've done our worst field, the lighter land doesn't need it and will suffer worse with capping when we do get some rain. Not bothering with pre-em as it's far too dry.

2 years in a row I rolled only half of one of my fields. Never noticed any difference. Dont do it now. Don't use pre emergence so dont know how that's affected.

I roll everything, if it’s cloddy the lumps can form little shadow areas the pre em can miss and a weed grow. My light gound always needs seed to soil consolidation.
