rotary lazer level

looking into buying a lazer level ive looked on ebay and seen what appear to be similar products but vastly ranging in price has anyone any recommendations.
wanting it for various ground works around the farm including fitting receiver to the dipper arm on excavator for levelling ground and drainage work
does green or red lazer make any difference
thanks in anticipation

Have a topcoat RL -H5A single grade laser, bought the cheapest kit available which came with the LS80L receiver which is fine. If buying again would have bought same kit with LS 100L receiver as the distance from grade display would be of benefit for stuff i am doing (shed foundations, drainage, concrete forms, sub bases etc).
5 year warranty with unit and recognised manufacturer.
Did look at the ebay lasers but figured that back up wouldn't be there if any issues so although cheaper initially may not have the longevity of other makes.

If mounting on excavator dipper different receivers can be used which have a wider reception for laser than standard receiver which needs to be face on to laser to pick up beam.

Green laser is easier to view in day light but is more expensive to manufacture.

I’ve a Datum machine control receiver it’s alright and will get you close when digging trenches etc due to being on the dipper. If you want to be within +/- 10mm you’ll need someone with the staff n rod eye, I also have a bracket to fit the grading bucket to put it on and it’s pretty good on that as it always sees the laser !.

The Trimble/Spectra, Leica Rugby and Topcon units are all well known, respected brands. All fairly much the same quality and price per spec. bracket.

The biggest question in my mind about the ‘cheapies’ is how absolutely accurate are they to begin with and how well do they stand their calibration over time.

Not sure some of these cheapies have been around for a long enough time to answer the second half of the question...

They should be re calibrated every 6 months anyway
