I think you will find 6 o clock doesn’t figure at all in a civil servants day.there is only one 6’o clock in a civil servant’s day !

The OP could have been the third or fourth person they had tried to get that day to fit their window.48hrs is a silly deadline - what if you had holiday or a family event etc planned

Fixed that for youI think you will find 6 o clock doesn’t figure at all in a civil servants working day.
Perhaps the inspector could have asked themselves why that might be!The OP could have been the third or fourth person they had tried to get that day to fit their window.
Sat on their own I expect, who would want to be in a pub with an rpa inspector.i’m sure it does once but it’s usually in a pub i would guess !
Granted a lot can depend on the individual but in rough terms, just about anyone that isn’t a farmerSat on their own I expect, who would want to be in a pub with an rpa inspector.
We have had them turn up without any notice, tbf they have always been pretty decent types. Had them stand out of the sheds while we walk round and just shout out the numbers and drive round fields just calling numbers out. Its a bloody pain but what isnt these days!I have no problem with RPA inspections but how reasonable should it be...
I explain ...
20 mins ago had a phone call " I need to come and do a whole herd tag test on one of your holdings"
I explained that
a, the cattle were alli out on grass keep and not back till end of next week
b, we have just managed to have a bit of summer and we are busy harvesting
c, we are TB testing on the 18th Sept can it not be done then?
No ,we have to do it within 48 hrs he replied .
I've told him I'm not prepared to do it as it's totally inconvenient and I have no spare time atm .
....I did make a concession by saying that he can come round 6am Fri morning and look at passports and the come with me whe I feed then and try and read tags while they are mopping up their feed .
"That is not convenient," I'm told, " I have to drop the children off at school before I come out "
So he has been told ...I'm just NOT doing g it !!!
So....am I unreasonable?
My MP has already been alerted to the problem !
I had a cattle test. They came out when I was away. I knew about it they were happy to do it themselves. They got most of the tags and all the one with missing tags I think! They were inside and I told them to kick some silage up.You got any stock at home? When I had an inspection they said they needed it started within the time but completion could take a bit longer. We did a field at the house and then they came back later for the big lot when it was convenient.
Good for youI have no problem with RPA inspections but how reasonable should it be...

I questioned the timing and he said Sept to May 15th is the cattle period.Unusual to be inspecting cattle at this time of the year.
As an ex-visitor, we always did cattle work from late December until May -, exception was immediately after F and M.
Most cattle were housed at this time. Milking cows easy but numerous early starts.
Majority of inspections arranged for TB testing to read tags.
I saw 06.00 and 18.00 on farm as a regular occurrence.
we had an inspection last week and i would go to the pub with her, not a dolly but very pleasant and genuine!Sat on their own I expect, who would want to be in a pub with an rpa inspector.
