Using a tine drill with a opener like a Dutch industry as per sumo dts but without a leading deeper leg. Would it work? Pros and cons. Any theories welcome as well as practical experience.

No independent Coulter depth control and no disc to cut residue ahead of the leg, this has only been a problem after laid oats really. The Solo coulter used for beans is very good for covers, rape, beans, turnips and peas, you may have these already?

Lots of questions sorry. The coulter on ours sits at the same height as the base of the point, is this correct? We are planning on drilling our osr with them this year, are you mixing the seed with anything? Or just as is straight in to stubble?

If I understand correctly, the coulter can be angled forward so as not to smear as much in wetter conditions - by changing the shank bottom bolt to a 2mm smaller diameter one ie from 14mm to 12. This would be helpful only on duets but not solos.
I don't have a Sprinter but looking like a more affordable solution than strip till when over 3m working widths.

Jacob, excellent job and results with your Sprinter conversion.
Do you think it would be possible to "fix" a 6 metre Sprinter with disks and still leave the front middle press wheels?
or would front press wheels need to be removed?

Running 5inch and 1inch Dutch points here on a 12m sprinter direct, into covers and into very very lightly cultivated soil and it seems to be working well. Need to somehow put a leading disc on for big covers though.
Remove the levelling disc things in between the points.

Thanks!

Anything is possible but I think your would have to make to drawbar longer to be able to turn.

If mine had front packer wheels I would have taken them off and used the frame to mount the disks.

You don't really need the front wheels and I might take mine off as they are too far away from the tines to do any good.

not sure a tine will ever really cope with a proper cover crop

if you want big covers you need a disc drill and a tine drill IMO

that said I'm planing a disc ahead of he tine on my CO conversion mostly to reduce disturbance though

I agree. Could add a disc drill or a disc toolbar to go on existing seedcart in future perhaps.
