Sanderson TL6 brakes

Hi all could any one shed any light on Sanderson TL6 brake actuators having carefully replaced the brake linings spacer plates etc.
I have now discovered that the brake actuator one side I will add, doesn’t release enough to release the brake. Measured both sides and the actuator travel is the same on both one side turns and the other is locked solid.
I am loosing my sh!£ with it now and don’t know what to do next ?

You need to reset the slack adjust in actuator.

how much free play do you have on the discs? i think you need 1mm from memory? there are shims which are basically a thinner steel brake disc, if you took them out and replaced with a actual steel brake disc that would be a problem!

Tried to slacken it off but it’s very stiff and I’m stripping the screw head. Any other suggestions or do I have to bite the bullet and fork out for a new one?

Adjuster should move easy, it probably seized up so you will have to try and strip the actuators, clean and reseal them. if not then it will be new ones but they are very expensive.

If the rods are not snapped then get some one to press the pedal down and watch the rods if you have air in the system you can narrow it down to front or rear axle by seeing the movement on the rods if one rod travels right in to the cylinder and the other hardly moves then the one that travelled the most is the one that has air in it. follow the pipe work out of the cab and to the axles to see which cylinder works which axle then you will know which axle to bleed and which to leave alone.

It's a TL6. Brakes are nothing like the old T2 and T3.

1 cylinder under cab, works boost cylinder under boom which works another cylinder that then works the actuators on front axle.

There are no brakes in rear.
Boost cylinder is assisted by hydraulic pump.
 
All the ones I've done work fine if you just take the slack out with handbrake cable. If you get realy technical you can put something round the stop peg for the hand brake levers

Thank you aceengineering, striped the actuator down. The piston was very rusty gave it a little once over with some emery paper and fiddled about with bleeding, and we now have brakes.
Top job as I didn’t need to part with 880 quid for a new actuator??
