There was a bit of a chat about this back in the day, I will see if I can find the thread in a minute.

Ultimately I decided it was too dear for me.
It's not the cows that go PNC to pd+ that take the time, so the saving is even less than you think.

Two years on from when this thread started, has anyone actually bought a scanner? I am looking to buy one. Costing a fortune getting someone to do it.

I want to be able to go out to the sheds and check an animal whenever I feel like it. We AI all the cattle.

What do you recommend and where can one purchase.

Thanks

Just had a quote from easi scan for the remote goggles and there new system, it was 8k, we scan 1500 animals a year and when we sat down and thought about it was easier just to get the vet to do it.

we are doing all our own sync work now and using less anti biotics but if we don’t give the vets some work then we will struggle to get a good one when we need one

Problem we have is we calve all year round so no batch calving and cattle are AI’d in a daily/weekly basis. We need to to be scanning every few weeks.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
