Screw or nail?

Ok, if you're fitting a deck you won't use nails just because a hammer Finnish look s sh!t and a nail gun cartridge is to expensive, decking screw's is the cheapest and best. IE you get what you pay for keep on screwing.

I don't think this has been posted before. I've seen a few of this chap's videos; his voice does grate a bit and he presents things like an awful 1980s shaver advertiser, but he is a bright guy, pretty thorough and does a good job. Interesting viewing. :watching:


This is only testing for one thing- as interesting as indeed it is.
(you've got to wonder what his missus is up to while he's doing all this)

Shear (or is that sheer?) strength is a biggie, as is, for outside application, durability against corrosion.
I'm still a big fan of hot dip galv nails for outdoor jobs.

Cordless impact drivers have made a big difference for sure, but I'm none too clear on what the coating on screws is.
Likewise nailguns...s'far as I can see, what we seen used weren't adequately treated, and a load of yorkshire boarding one lad fastened with his nail gun is under close scrutiny.
