Wet clothes round the bead. Have to be quick to get them out before they get trapped.

That’s why l suggested silage wrap / shrink wrap - if soaped up its easier to get out than wet clothes & safer that messing about with gas n matches

Do you know anyone with a road compressor you could borrow, take the valve out, wrap a rag around the valve stem and hold the compressor pipe on and it will blow on the bead in seconds

Decided that I’m going to invest in a bead blaster. Tried most of the other tricks to no avail, was going to try the lighter fuel, but couldn’t find anywhere that sells the stuff. Am I right in thinking that it’s Butane?
Knowing my luck I’d probably set fire to the tyre and workshop ?

Spray brake cleaner into the tyre and light it....you’ll sh!t your pants when it pops on but it’s the fastest way to bead a big tyre

As above brake cleaner works. Probably most aerosol will work. Deodorant even.

Have you got a old can of "Easy start" in the back of the workshop?

Tyre off , wire wheel and clean rim bead spotless ,all rusty bits polished clean , red oxide , red oxide , paint ,and paint again , refit tyre with plenty of that black stuff that tyre boys use , blow up to 35 if you dare ,leave 24 hrs , ,
This worked for one for us ,
Remember fossit and thorne tyre fitters years ago fitting two new tubeless, cleaned of the bead wiped a load of silicone round and left it 24 hrs at 40psi

May have to try the lighter fuel idea again. Talking to people who sell bead blasters, they say that they are not really suitable for big tyres.
I have some easy start in the workshop, may try that later, and stand well back!

I had one last week after a puncture repair would not seat .air was coming out in a few places.so put a ratchet strap right round then took the valve out and put a spare airline coupling in and just pushed it against the tyre inlet it soon had it seated.
