"Shoot it" is the PC version. What I really mean is "cut its throat and feed it to the dogs".
The South Country Cheviot is another option. There's plenty of choice at Longtown's Autumn sale of draft ewes, Gimmer shearlings and ewe-lambs. But the better types cost a fortune, which indicates how high they are valued.

Back on a serious note Iād go either Cheviot or Welsh mountain. I really fancy having a few welshies again. See how silly I feel come October. Nice little ride too Dolgellau might be in order.

Romneys , they make Cheviots look silly in all departments , same price for wool but lot more of it , lambs grow better and worth tenner more , have more lambs slightly bigger ewe with more as cull , has more lambs ,better feet better longevity , better temptement and lambs easy peasy donāt hang lambs ! Better mothers more milk . Ncc fashion item at the moment but an absolute mine field for the beginner !! And Romney rams will be sensable money.
