Selling machinery

Have some tractors and machinery we are considering selling if we have a reshuffle with drills but I was wondering which dealers people have found to be fair and interested in buying machinery without selling something. Will advertise in classifieds on here as well. Power units are case and possibly a cat.

Many thanks

Had the same task a year or so ago. Advertised on here, Agriaffaires, TractorPool, spoke to Brocks and advertised in the Farmers Guide. In the end sold everything through FG. Not always the first month, but generally people that rang up were serious buyers and everything was easy and pleasant to do. That's now my first port of call.

Plus Farmers Guide is free to advertise and no commission

We are based in Suffolk your memory serves you well Feldspar.

Farmer Guide is one i had forgotten about and definitely worth a try. Will have to get taking some pics and get posting them around and see what sort of responses we get

Pictures are free to add for the first few items (can't remember how many). Cut-off date for the next month's issue is normally about the 20-22nd of the month. I probably sold about £100k worth over about 18 months. I think other farmers appreciate being able to talk to the owner and understand the history of a machine. Don't get that with a dealer (although obviously there's no warranty) and you have to pay their wages too. I found it a good way to do honest business.

I've sold a couple of bits of kit recently. 1st item i put on here and on farmers free ads on FB. and a few other places.

Sold via Farmers free ads quickly and hardly had any traffic anywhere else.

Second item also sold via farmers free ads.

Generally advertise a few bits this time of year, and have 2 or 3 items to advertise now to help fund a new purchase. Last couple of years eBay has done us very well, and one item out of 5 sold via the classifieds on here. Will most likely use eBay and on here again this time.

Nothing will be beat an auction...farmers just go bonkers
Yes, all that testosterone flying around, you just cant keep peoples hands down, or maybe kit is more likely to be more genuine, but it does make me laugh sometimes when 2nd makes more than new, gates and feeders are the best, people just cant get enough of them, there must be a shortage in the UK. :ROFLMAO:

Big +1 for Farmers Guide. It's free and tends to sit around in people's kitchens or offices being flicked through over coffee.

We have also sold several things through here.

Farmers Weekley seems to have lost the plot and most of their small ads seem to be itemised dealer listings. If you have an ad run for a couple of issues in Farmers Guide Farmers Weekley will cold call you and try and sell you advertising at an exorbitant rate. :banghead:
