Selling stores

Up to now yes but fat trade has dropped lately. Stores have risen since xmas but fodder shortage is holding people back, some are buying but some are thinking they might just as well give a £100 more for them in the spring
I’ve been hanging onto them for a while but it’s time some went from here so I will have to bite the bullet

Trades very up and down, one bunch reaches crazy money then another similiar bunch bombs. Markets video clips of a few of the best being sold doesnt tell the whole story, averages do that.

started the ones that made £750 @300 and then at the end bang, In my opinion a few more £ could be teased out at the end instead of spending time from 300 in 20s
Yeah be careful where you lean on the rostrum desk, he’s a bit wild with smacking the hammer down :blackeye::ROFLMAO:
That’s Alistair’s way of selling, he starts too low and goes up in too small a jumps, and the less said about him trying to value breeding bulls the better :banghead: always think trade jumps when he’s on holiday and Mark sells
Shame Newark and Skipton are so far, otherwise Bakewell would seriously need to pull their finger out

I sell the best of the steers and heifers as suckled calves at 7-9 months. Then the remaining bulls are finished by 13-14 months and the remaining heifers are sold in the spring at 12-14 months. Looking forward though we need to gear up to finish the lot as TB is too big a risk. It's not too bad if it's 20 out of 100 that can't be sold but if I was geared up to sell the lot and got shut down it would cause a lot of issues.

That's why we only run stores now and the odd cow and calf that could be split, if we were to go down we can still finish and send dead, but all ours usually go as forward stores
