Setting up a temporary 2 berth caravan (towable type) on land down a private lane, any issues with this?

Hi all

I’m looking at buying a plot of land in the future and I would like to put a small caravan in the trees somewhere. There is a small old cow shed in the corner of the land, so could I use the excuse that it’s temporary accommodation while I do the shed up into a house?

Thanks all. Just joined but been helping on farms since I was 6, 16 now and doing Agriculture Level 2. Already got land based operations level 1.

Not really as the shed is not residential I’m guessing.

if you got planning for that first then you can live on site.

change of use Is what you need which can be tricky.

The spy in the sky goes over more often now, if it’s very remote you may get away with it for a while If the neighbours don’t see you

Be careful. We had a lad work for the summer whilst living in a towable caravan and was hoping to offer him an apprenticeship. He was happy to move the caravan into a barn with some bales to keep the wind away for the winter months but the college didn't like the idea of him living on his own as they had a 'duty of care'. Parents thought about renting him a house and still no good because he needed a responsible adult close by so he had to find a job closer to home.

it was a shame because he was a really good lad, very keen and liked it here on the farm.

Bout right for colleges milkloss they are so bloody poncy it’s unbearable.

Yes well there is no neighbours about where that is, and I probably will back the van into the shed, (just Tin sheet nailed on the front) and then hide it inside.

Good idea barleycorn about painting green 👍🏼
