starting a new thread so i can have a 'rant'

sfi.....Fekked Up Beyond All Recognition

what happens now?,,,,are we?
1/supposed to put 25% of land into conservation then take that money and subsidise food ergo putting it mr tesco's pocket?
2/ have 'bird cover entitlements' been created so farmers not in the scheme can hire/sell them to farmers who wish to grow more?
3/ what about the 'betrayal' of us cs holders who've been unable to apply?
4/if they honour historical claims (which they should)....is that not unfair on those yet to apply?
5/is food production now a 'public good' by default?....so why isn't that being subsidised?

thats just off the top of my head......whole thing is now complete farce

and breath

What’s wrong with current sheep and cattle prices? Admittedly arable isn’t great at the moment but not a disaster.

nothing...long may it last (y).....but if prices drop what then?.....it's personal choice but i'd rather feed birds than put a single penny in mr tesco's pocket

thats the point really....sfi should compete with food production.....farmers can then choose and prices should remain reasonable

this is interference....if food is a 'public good' then subsidise it

are you not finding these ongoing price rises of everything is well and truly takes the shine of this years better prices, i am , everything just keeps on going up, council tax , insurances, parts etc, personalty i think we are no better than a year ago really when you factor in buying in replacements ( stock) and actually keeping on top of maintaining the farm and equipment to run it. we need these prices and higher as everything keeps rising in price, otherwise we are just left further behind from the rest of the population

I know what you mean about price rises but I can’t see how cutting production and putting half of the farm in environmental schemes would benefit me . I will still have the same insurance costs and other costs unless I sold machinery and it would be harder to keep machinery up to date so would be left with a yard full of scrap after a few years and no way of getting out of it.

Welcome aboard, it's always been like that as long as I can remember for us.
Infact on top Try paying a mortgage and rent as well
It helps to be a proper die hard and enjoy an (almost) impossible challenge. Lol.
Don't expect new tractors kit when wanted or cars ,vehicles or foreign holidays either.
Mrs will have to make do with one kitchen per lifetime as well lol again.so you better be sure she can cope / be happy with that from the start .
