I suppose that would depend in whether you wanted to take more than 25% of your land out of production or not 🤷🏻‍♂️😂
What genuine farmer would want to ?
Only about that amount is suitable for viable arable on ours anyway and that's where the money is not on perm grassland which is what ours is mainly.
So 25 % would be complimentary not spoil anything , wise not greedy maybe.

Time for a cj me me I think.

You only have to limit it to 25% of the area, not each field.
Are you sure that is correct for all the options they have now capped at 25% of land area?

As there was some new guidance posted on here late on Monday that suggested otherwise but the way they keep changing the rules aka make it up as they go along on a daily basis who can be sure what the latest version of the rules is!

25% of total farm area and you could do a selection of all 6 SFI options on any parcels if you were desperate enough

Nothing about CS bars one from also having SFI, unless you already have every acre in a CS option?
The few options I can do, not worth it on their own. But can not get the good ones as cs stops them.
Even rpa bloke who looked at my case said hardly worth starting sfi.
Ssid may as well wait untill can switch over. Which they said July... but probably that will fall through..

It's my interpretation and what I will be doing. I'm not advising anyone.

The latest "amendments" to sfi are a distinct variation from previous Agricultural incentives ....

It seems that the government is no longer going to incentivise food production with the odd "carrot" but will be resorting to the "stick" method instead .....

This approach well and truly tells English farmers where they lie in the Government priorities...

No one ever said you could cancel CS and enter SFI... not once was that promised in the last 3 yrs by DEFRA.. It might not be fair but SFI is not fair is it??

They were planning a stick from day 1 but just needed lots of people to enter their nets..
15,000 are in their SFI net and at least 30,000 trapped in the CS /HLS lobster pots.. now they can haul their catch on board and smack each 1 with the dispatching stick..
Fair call👍

As I recall.. They did say those that had existing CS would not be unfairly penalised. They did say those with existing CS would be able to transfer to SFI providing they maintained or increased the areas they delivered for the equivalent options.

And you trusted them? Ok... well lets see whether they keep their promise on that and let those who want to deliver more deliver it? Or will they just CAP CS too? Why not...

Trust them, of course not, but at the same time one can only make decisions based on the best information available. As it happens neither of those promises impacted my decision making though they will affect others. Governments can change their minds on pretty much any thing at any time!!

Any farmer who’s in business to make money and not run a hobby! If it’s more profitable to enter + 25% of your land into a scheme than it is grow crops for a market that doesn’t want them then that’s what i’ll do.

Why is it greedy? When the scheme was opened there was no limits imposed and they kept upping rates to encourage take up on them options. What did they think would happen once it became more profitable than going a commodity?

I think some farmers forgot were all separate businesses trying to make money but competing against each other for the same market share! The more that stop producing grain the better for my business in the long run.
