hedgrow money for what we got from bps
ipm for what any good farmer has been doing for years
nutrient management same
application payment for management time

my whole farming carrier has had restricted production since 1984
milk quotas ,sugar beet quotas coresponsabilty levy setaside ect

if you look back in history there has been govenment involvement in farming since the 18 century

we just have to adapt to the rules
the weather is still the biggest influence on any farm
Which is why a new version of BPS controlled by the grower taking the growing risk is needed...

The question wasn’t meant to be patronising in any way, I’m genuinely curious as to what is holding people back from applying at this point if they intend to do so? I’m aware there are more options to come later in the year and I was hesitant myself but after speaking to a few that have applied I had a feeling some restrictions could be on the way! I know a couple who have put 100% of their eligible land into AHL2.
However, on the other hand, SFI has been shoved down our throats now for what? 3 years or more? DEFRA have been saying over and over how they’re giving our funding to advisors to help with the paperwork (whether we want an advisor or not) so may as well make use of them at no cost to yourself.
You can only do so much for people!

I hadn't read it before.

and still no Idea what your actual point is
No i don't suppose you do, you are like many others in the World today, none so blind as those that dont wish to see, either that or just dont have the type of inteligence /Worldly ability too, plus don't care. I'm alright jack sort of covers it as does gloating.
Ciao.

I don't know the full details of our application as my son has done it, but he hasn't taken any land out of production. Hedges, low input grass and something else. We are arable and beef and have quite a lot of grass keep. We need straw for the cattle.

Maybe the price of wheat and barley will be high too.

just a boy then my Farming Career started in 1977 the only restriction we had then was on Potatoes and Dad didn't want to buy any quota so we used stick with the bit below an acre, all harvested by hand but they were happy days to far better times than now and greed driven ones since starting around a bout the 80's.

Going off the back of the recent news from Defra and reading the current thread about it it would be interesting to see exactly how much land people where actually considering taking out of production.
Thers a lot complaining about not being able to enter more than 25% into the 6 options that have been restricted but how much where you actually going to enter if you haven’t already put an application in?

Also why haven’t you applied yet?
Because the RPA have made such a f**k up of paying our BPS over the last decade on what was a relatively simpler rules based system I am zero confidence that they will pay us on this and not leave us carrying the can. Thats why I haven’t applied yet. Also When they give us the last of last years bps I might consider it.

If there’s any way you can survive without RPA money (can hardly call it support ‘cos of the expenses many options require) then now would be a good time to hold off joining anything with “conditions”.
