Shearwell Ear Tags

Just received an order from Shearwell, it seems they have changed the size of the cattle ear tags. They supplied a new applicator with the tags.

The question is what was wrong with their tags before. The old metal applicator released automatically when the tag was applied, it is a good tool.



I can't see this new applicator being any were near as good.

Maybe some one knows the reason they changed.

The new tags are much clearer to read. In addition, the flap on Male part of the old tags tended to break off, leaving just a finger-nail size of plastic at the back of the ear.
Hopefully the new tags, with a slightly longer male point, will be a bit more durable.

Have you looked to see if the needle off the new set of pliers will fit the old.

It's only the needle that has changed as far as I can see

I asked that when ordering replacements but they said they were sending new pliers
