Having a mare have injected with cydectin La 2% but seems to have been a waste of time .Yet the ones I’ve dipped at the hill farm are fine .
My question is if I leave dip in overnight will it still be effective the following day as long as it’s not diluted with rain water.
Seem to remember years ago you used to get some sachets with the dip which you chucked in and could carry on dipping next day.

The dip will still kill scab mites, the OP doesn’t go anywhere fast. However, (erysiphilis iirc) bacteria can multiply rapidly in the dirty dip, leading to post-dipping lameness. The sachets that you used to chuck in where a disinfectant to kill those bugs.

I’ve no idea whether stirring a bit of Virkon into the dip would achieve the same, or whether it might denature the OP, defeating the whole job?

Incidentally, I was talking to someone a couple of months ago who had a contractor in with a mobile dip. It turns out that he hadn’t cleaned the dip out properly, and just refilled it, before going to this farm. Everything went well, until quite a lot of the ewes started hobbling about several days later. From the way the farmer was talking, that contractor wasn’t going back there anytime soon.?
