Recently got the approval for the grant I’m, just looking at my options what does anyone else have or use it’s got to be a 250 sheep one with forcing pen , race etc I’m liking the porta yard system just wandering what everyone else has used to even possibly what they’re getting on the grant cheers

Well I never preordered anything because you didn’t know if you was going to get it or no, you can’t change what you want just the different makes in the group so I deleted a mobile sheep handling system as one , so I now need to decide between what brands but as I stated I was hoping to go for the porta yard but Just checking my options you then have to place your order by the 10 of November , as I’m sure it states you cannot buy or order items before you got the grant approoval

The Porta yard is very smart, why don't you fancy a Rappa? Built by a small british firm, great quality and great people to deal with. We always want people to buy English food etc so wanting a sheep system from the other side of the world doesn't seam quite right especially when the English versions are as good. The hydraulic lift on the Porta yard does look nice after a long day though!

Cheers @Nithsdale Farmer
Yes I’ve a porta yards. It’s solid and bloody well made. The hurdles are taller than the rappa/ prattley gates, so if your a shorty, worth bearing in mind for crossing over ( grocery bashing !)
Got mine from rob Livesey in the borders. Defo worth seeing whatever system you fancy in the flesh.
As mentioned the manual pump hydraulic lift is a great bit of kit !

Rappa is a brilliant design and very well built kit. Good firm to deal with. Probably the most expensive of all the systems but worth the extra British!!

I ordered a rappa super yard with the race weigh, looking forward to not having to lug a heavy crate around!

the scotpen is also well made but the hurdles are heavy and too tall to step over, have to climb over them which after slipping on a wet rung and landing leg either side I don’t fancy doing any more

To add to the buy British thing...
IAE, Rappa, Alligator, Scotpen and Portequip all make ally mobile yards and are all British - so there's plenty of choice.

They all have pro and con points but will all do a job and are all decent. I said already, you need to see them in the flesh and decide if whichever make you're looking as is what you need/want.

Word of warning with Rappa - if you have a time limit on your grant, there was a long waiting list when I enquired (so long that it ruled them out for me!).
They told me they could hopefully get one to me in 4months time from date of ordering. But they wouldn't put a promise on that wait... It may have changed since then but you'd better talk to them soon if you want one!

Thanks for all the replies much appreciated, I’ve spoke to a few local farming outlets and they’re all getting back to me on the price of different sorts, so see what they come back with! Also managed to get a livestock monitoring camera along with a crush and weigh bars, has anyone else applied for a camera for monitoring livestock and what they’ve got that meets the grant as I’m struggling to find the right thing for the roughly similar price

As far as I could tell from the options list it has to be Road legal as well so rules out rappa/prattley style with removable wheels. Could just bd the way I read it.
May well be wrong as not studied in depth but I thought I read on rappa Web site it was road legal? Hope so as was my declared and preferred choice. Isn't it up to may to get things delivered after last years delays? Have placed a provisional order whether that makes a difference or not?

Road legal and with the 250 sheep additional holding capacity hurdles will mean lights, brakes and suspension. So the manufacturer needs to prove type approval to the grant scheme spec parameters
