Sheep race width

I am currently building a new pen for my sheep and was wondering what width the race/chute needs to be. I was think 480mm is this enough. My sheep are quite big so don't want it so that they can turn back or not go forward.

18" comes to mind which is near enough 480mm , make the u shaped staples at each end adjustable so you can alter the width

Made mine 600mm recently, it’s too wide. 450mm would have been perfect (18”)
