start of the winter, only around a 6"- 1ft of water. chap up in Scotland told me about it. works well.Do you add the water before the sheep are put on the slats or just before pumping out?

Are you feeding down both sides of the pens, if so, how? The outside alleys look too narrow for machinery in your first photo, which might just be the photo of course.
I see on the 1st pic of building it on far right of picture the tank is higher and looks shallow where the ewes stand to feed, does the muck work it’s way down to the deep part easily?View attachment 1148620
Pic of last year
so the first pic on the old post is before we took the shed out each side to add another 2 x12ft feed passages.
So each ewe has just about 9” of feed space on the TMR.
Yes it’s a shelf on the side of the tanks- We hose it down every now and again but will just about do a season.I see on the 1st pic of building it on far right of picture the tank is higher and looks shallow where the ewes stand to feed, does the muck work it’s way down to the deep part easily?

You have a great set upYes it’s a shelf on the side of the tanks- We hose it down every now and again but will just about do a season.
we do take that row of slats up once a year after ewes are out and push muck into the tank. Not ideal but it allows us to put an extra 100 ewes in the shed.
As I said we were working with an existing shed before digging tanks so the best we could do.
ThanksYou have a great set up
Not sure, reduce ammonia emission I would say rather than increase ammonia emissions as you can’t smell it…. But not sure tbh.Does it increase ammonia emission hence reduce N compared to FYM?
540 we have had in there (90/pen) but 500 comfortably. How many you get in there 500?
Find it doesn’t seperate and form a crust like cow slurry, suck a load in and blow it back out a couple of times and it’s mixed enough to spread. Obviously depends how much water is in to start with.So excuse my ignorance, what is the constancy is sheep slat slurry compared to say dairy cow slurry?
How many ewes will you put in each pen and how much feed space per ewe?
Not sure yet, I would guess 250-300.How many ewes will you put in each pen and how much feed space per ewe?
