Sheepdog walks home

It's a lovely story but as mentioned above a few times the dog looked very well and well fed for such a long journey...At the risk of sounding extremely cynical I think two people fancied their 15 minutes of fame and have concocted this story...if it's genuinely true then it's truly remarkable
I haven't spoken to the owners but from what I can gather from the various news articles etc even they say the dog was in too good a condition to have walked all the way but he did arrive on their doorstep without any assistance from them. I know the family and they don't strike me as the publicity seeking type tbh.

This story is true and it isn't unusual for sheepdogs to travel vast distances to get 'home'.
I bred a litter of collie x years ago, a friend had one, at the time she lived with her mother, who disliked the dog, so her father said he would have it, he lived in a pub, the dog got out of the large high walled yard at the back, and dropped down onto the canal bank, from there just a short walk to the M62, where it was spotted at various locations on the route back to home, it stuck to the verges all along the M way, police picked it up at the slip road nearest home, it took him 48 hrs, he was lean, tired and had v sore paws, just after that short journey.

They can do it, this dog looks damn fit for his long journey.

It's only 14 miles a day, would have followed the coast path most of the way, lives by the coast
Apparently he was spotted in Worcestershire so must have missed his junction on the m5

When I left Warwickshire I had been a shepherd on a large estate, the agents and trustees decided that sheep weren't paying so they cut the flock in half, employed contract labour and I was out of a job and house. Pretty sh!t part of my life with my eldest not even 12months old at the time.
The job I was going on to was on a potato and arable farm, no livestock as I couldn't bear to be in the same position again, working with livestock is a way of life and you do get attached.
I had sold my two young dogs and had kept my best dog untill I finished the job completely and he had allready been bought by a neighbour who had pestered me, nicely, when he heard that I was going to sell. So in the evening I dropped Mac off at his new home, went home and loaded the hired lorry with all our posessions. First thing in the morning into the cab to go and the first thing I saw when the windscreen cleared was my old dog running back down the road to me. One of the hardest things I have ever done was to take the dog back and leave again. I must admit that my eyes were leaking for most of the journey.
