Hi,
Has anyone got any experience around if you need planning permission for a 20ft shipping container on arable land for own use like animal feed and chainsaw etc ? Tried asking local council and didn’t say yes or no just said apply for planning which means paying to do so but dont want to pay if i dont need planning, cheers

If you own the land, own the container, the container is being used for 'temporary' storage of items pertaining to your business & the container is not blocking or hindering the view of road or a risk to road users then you do not need PP - in Scotland anyway

It's fine. We have one with door and windows, the firm we purchased it from have sold lots to orchards etc as welfare units and no PP needed, so a plain box which presents little opportunity to be repurposed into a dwelling is of even less concern to the planners.

Just go ahead should be no problem but maybe chose a green colour or paint in camaflage!

Tip;
Put a concrete pad-stone at each corner.
make sure they are all at the same height.
Your doors will then shut easily. The concrete pads stops any twist.
No planning required as far as I know.

I was also told, to make sure there is a 1" fall on the concrete pads from one side to the other so the water does not sit on the roof but drains.

Put it where you want it, and on off chance planners turn up and say it's been in a permanent position.... move it a bit. Leave it in position No. 2 until/unless they turn up again. Then shift it back to where it was in the first place. They'll soon get bored.
