Good evening all.
Please let me introduce myself to you, my name is Dave I’m 41 years of age I have recently moved to Ratby in Leicestershire where I live with my soon to be wife and her daughter, my pastimes are shooting and fishing. I earn my living as a vna driver in a warehouse, it’s not exciting but it keeps the wolves from the door and food on the table.
What I’m looking for is some wooded land on which I can control the grey squirrel population most of if not all of the folks on here know the damage that they cause to trees, song bird nests and of course they are the main reason for the decline of our native red squirrels. I have at the moment one small area that I have permission to shoot on, when I started on this permission in August the chap who owns the land said there was a few running round in the small corpse of trees, now we are January and I have despatched over one hundred from a single feeder, he cannot believe how many there was in such a small area. Well now there is only the odd one or two left, I have a trail camera that watches the feeder and the number of squirrels that visit the feeder is down to one or two a week where as before there was four or five on the feeder at a time.
My method for controlling the squirrels is very simple, I have a small feeder attached to a tree and it is filled with peanuts, after initially setting up the feeder I will leave it alone for two weeks only going to refill it and if permission is given for a trail camera I will change the memory card in that to see how many are visiting it and roughly what times of day, when I feel confident that the squirrels are happy to feed off it then I will begin to despatch them. I like to shoot from a distance of 20 yards.
I think I’ve finally ran out of things to tell you................ except that I’m fully insured through BASC, very reliable and honest.
In all honesty I don’t have much to offer in return except for a strong back and I’m always willing to help.
Thank you for taking the time to read my request, I feel a little cheeky doing it this way but as my old dad said if you don’t ask you don’t get. Please pm me if you have any questions.
Thanks again and take care all Dave.
