I would move the cabinet back into your house. Criminals are far less likely to target a house than outbuildings.
not worried about them getting stolen, very hard to get to them and would have to walk past lots of easier stuff to steal and sell on.
It's more the fact that if I needed one in a hurry it's not a 10 second job to get one :banghead:

There's certainly no joking with the guy who has done my last two renewals. (I'll leave it at that).

I've always been told 22LR is one of the most dangerous calibres, because they are usually a solid lead bullet that isn't going fast enough to fragment if they hit something, they just bounce and keep going. Also being so small, there is maybe the temptation to treat them with less respect/thought.
Yep. 17 is much safer.

FAO said he would approve me having one, but I need a 22 as well, and that made him twitch, so I left it.

Question.

One mega cabinet (with closed area for FAC) or 2-3 smaller ones?
I’ve got several smaller ones, only because I never had intentions of having so many guns and every time I fill a cabinet I convince myself I need another gun and have to panic buy a cabinet while I’m at the shop.
ideal world would be one Yankee spec big cabinet

Are you a BASC member?

I am sure BASC and also Fieldsports Channel would be very interested to hear what happened to you.

Fieldsports Channel have been following the Devon and Somerset situation very closely.

This case confirms how essential BASC or similiar membership is....

I thought it actually been resolved :(

I remember as a kid going into the vestry at the church one day, quite a big church in a small town.

In the corner was a big steel door, about 5" thick. That went into a room about 8 foot square, all lined out with shelves full of silver collection plates, chalices, candle sticks etc and the collection cash from the week.

It would have made the best gunroom.

I thought you were going to say the vicars gun was leaning in the corner 🤣

I cut them off at the pass with mine when they started on that one. I've never bought any ammo for some rifles - the larger ones that I keep for euthanising cattle and/or shooting predators. Told the police officer I considered it as a success that the few rounds I had from new weren't being used, just like the airbags in my car weren't. One or two every other year to zero the rifle and that's all I need. My current .270 stock will last decades.
I got a very funny look from the retired police officer who came to inspect my gun safe, when I told him I only really use the shotgun to euthanise casualty animals. He also didn't like the fact I had an elastic cartridge holder on the stock with half a dozen cartridges in it, so the shotgun and cartridges were in the gun safe together.

Could you not explain the fragility of BFL sheep to him? Half a dozen might not be enough for some places, I guess.

thats what i heard aswell which is why i said that's what i wanted it for so was a bit shocked when he said that,
I just said i'm obviously not a good enough shot then and think .223 would be better.
It could of been him having a bit of a joke,I havn't worked him out yet
the game keeper at work used to use a .22 250 for foxes and Brian used to shoot loads every year (and tan/sell the hides- he said he furnished his house on the money from a years hides when he got married, but that would have been 40 years ago).
