this weather has to be hardening things!! Not enough time left of winter for job to rocket but price is surely hardening for feed as well as straw!
There's plenty of hay and silage about and it's not worth much .... I bought 40 4ft round bales of decent hay yesterday for £8 a bale . I didn't need it or want it but for that money I couldn't let it go .
Brightwells have another fodder sale coming up a week tomorrow . There are no catalogues out yet I don't think but I think there will be a lot re-entered that wasn't sold before in Jan

Needed the space so got rid of some good quality hay for £50/tonne. Wont be selling any more though now for the foreseeable.

Could someone give me an idea of the price of straw we don't usually buy any. A local farmer has to clear his lambing shed out ready and has a few loads of wheat straw in 6 stinger squares. I would be collecting and loading. How much should I give him (I want to be fair to him).

I would be £50.00 per tonne in my area if you are fetching it. Go and weigh it too fairer all round. Straw is creeping up in money. Might be worth asking him for a price first so you aren’t miles apart and cause offence.

Location is key.
