I've been to auctions with over 100 lots and every lot has hit the reserve and only a few lots sold . You just need strong nerves and not be to desperate

on line bidding is just another tool, for auctioneers to 'run' the bidding up, if needed, like all 'new' things in farming, there's a good, and bad angle. However this one is here to stay, and most of us will learn to use it, and it will be better than standing at a sale for hours, and perhaps coming home with nothing. Although, as someone said, you can learn a lot from the auctioneer, and bidders reactions.

Stags had a bit in Tavistock this week, square and round haylage, got to "27 a bale IIRC and they would not sell.

I think they were looking for £30, that's where they tried to start the bidding.

Greedy. Haylage is funny stuff to sell on the spot. Plenty about all over spot

You’re assuming they had a bid at £27 though. I’d expect a decent auctioneer to take things to one bid below reserve, if they had a bidder or not.

hard to believe we are in the second half of jan, febs a short month, in march we are definitely nearly there, cold east winds permitting. Will be interesting to see how the trade goes, those hanging on for a silly price, will have to make their minds up soon.
