SML full of forage but not much being sold . A stack of silage made £30 a bale at a sale not far from here but I think it went to a digester .
Speak to anybody in hereford about fodder and they quote the £30/bale made at that sale🤣. I hear straw price has crept up a tiny bit, only need farmers to start adding abit more straw to the feed mix and alot more gets used. Still alot of straw stacked on headlands with no home though.

Drove up the A303 this morning, not my normal route but must have seen at least 30 loads of straw ,some driving in convoys of five , our resident straw man was one of them Puntabrava, is it normal at this time of the year to see so many or is it drought effected , I did not see one heading to Wales on the m4 , it's dead quiet at home

Yeah, pretty normal, was spreading next to the A30 today and several were passing, didn't see our resident pass today though.

Trip to tenby this week, didnt pass a single lorry load of straw. Drought conditions most of the way until we got down nr st clears which didnt look like it had suffered at all. Llandovery -carmarthen looked to be recovering slowly

just bought some really good barley feeding straw, Down to Devon would be £95 ton, S Somerset £15 less.. Farmer has to make a bit, the man that bales it, loads it, and delivers it, has to as well. That was straight out of a field, if some one has to unload it, barn it, and reload it again, that's another extra. While l would love to pay less, £80 TO £100, depending on distance, doesn't leave a lot, to profit from. Off our regular chap, who didn't sting us, when it was making a fortune, so if its a couple of quid dearer, not going to bother me.
A lot of straw locally, been chopped, no takers for it. But if we had bought that at say £50 ac, by the time we had payed for it to be baled, hauled it back, and taking the time involved, we wouldn't really be any better off, than having it brought to the gate.
i wouldn't be surprised to see it expensive later on. We will feed a lot of straw this autumn/winter, so another load ordered, and now we know we have enough.
