I think forage prices will be strong this year.I have been in the forage selling game now for long enough to see patterns and usually hot dry spring &summer ends up in good quality but shortages . .....
If I was a buyer I think I would be trying to deal now whilst everyone is congratulating themselves on how easy the season has been.

I think you will find a huge variation across the UK.
yes , spoke to two big hay men this Morning , one from Nuneaton has not started, crops to light anther from Swindon well into it crops quite good , around here people are cutting fields that haven't seen a mower for 10 years and crops are heavy

You are nothing but a toe rag. You do a deal & stick to it. Any one who tries to renegotiate in my yard, is not allowed in the yard ever again.
Rather unfair and no need for name calling - it is understood between myself and the landowner that we are aiming for hay but should we get caught out with the weather an agreement will be reached that is fair to both parties.

Any straw in swath prices about yet. Just missed a call from a regular, who buys winter barley . Heavy crop this year, so not going to give it away , plus the barn is empty.

I would put it in the barn, people try to beg it off the field , spring barley crops on the whole will be down so after Christmas it will be wanted
