What was it then? I was told a handful sold for mid-high 70’s and then another amount of them sold for £80,do I need to send father for a hearing test [emoji23][emoji85] he got rather excited about the 100 I’ve got here
I never disclose auction prices as I don't except it as a true guide , while I except some do I don't expect there will be much publicity about the silage that made a £1/ton

what about dealer prices are they a true guide ?
at least auction prices are disclosed anyway
There is no such thing as a true guide , but auction prices are pie in the sky, do you know any long time big dealers who buy there, I saw a bale make £78 yesterday does that mean we should all now be paying £230 ton , when most I know are paying £90 ish

Seen a lot of tractors and trailers with both hay and straw on the roads in Wilts over the last few days while I've been out on my own deliveries.

My stocks are dwindling fast, lots of people ringing up who have run short, or whose normal supplier has run out. Even 2 and 3 year old coarse hay is going. I've always said horses will eat anything if there's nothing else.....

Indeed......what did wild horses do years ago ? Roam the plains turning their noses up at each bit of fodder they come across ?

Forage shortage is biting now , we are getting phone calls all the time especially from the more northen counties. Actually had a bloke drive from Wakefield today with his cheque book to pay for a load despite my insistence I might not have sufficient stock to take new customers .
Casual trade normally don' t like my prices but no resistance now.
