Was that the grass silage that made 40k? works out at £80t ish....

What did the wholecrop oats and barley pits make?

Not surprised what the silage made, very short, I have seen lorry's all week coming down the M5 hauling round bales of silage/ artic loads of pit silage etc etc and that isn't going to be cheap once you factor in the haulage!
A lot cheaper than £80 /ton . Maize delivered into Wales is a lot less . But perhaps not after today

Aye but don't forget the stuff today was organic so really it should make more, only one sale, really need to see how trade is at the forage sales between now and Xmas to get a better idea.

Also Kivells have another on farm dispersal sale in 2 weeks time in Mid Devon and details aren't out yet but apparently there is a lot of round bale hay and barley straw in the sale so that will give an indication of what trade is like for conventional stuff also.

Had a few folk asking if we have any spare hay/straw for sale the last few days. Chatting to them about the trade it seems straw is more expensive than hay. Straw around €150 and hay about €120

Actually, the straw price is irrelevant as they can’t actually find anyone to supply them.

That's how I started selling , chucking 600 quids worth of forage a day to the cattle to keep them alive .
