Silver lining to the Drought...?

Too much time being spent tractor driving this week, so I am have time to ponder matters of great import...

So, what have been the actual positive benefits folks have seen or experienced from this hot spell? For me;

The ease of haymaking with no worry about trying to grab a few late acres in an evening before it gets doggy, or when the forecast is for rain...

Topping stuff like ragwort or thistle and the flail toppings are gone in hours!

Most interesting is seeing how where I aerated this Spring on grassland headlands and corners that were suffering with compaction, just how much the land has now cracked along the line of the aerator slits. That'll save getting a deep subsoiler this Autumn!

We haven't wormed since they had a Nemo dose, nice positive, but on the other hand got CODD going through everything, so give with one hand and take with the other......

Beer and BBQ, ladies in summer dresses Youngstock looking belting with the sun on their backs. Weeds seem to be dying off and almost everywhere is bone dry.

Lots of BBQ, long lazy evenings, silage making was stress free as not waiting for someone to turn up before the rain. Hopefully harvest will be the same. Cattle seem to be enjoying it.

Life is good, yes I have some spring barley that looks like it's had a litre of glypho and some wheat that looks a bit plain, but it's a 1000 times better than 2012 and in 6 months it will be Jan and it will be cold, grey, wet and dank.
