Are the terragrip tines on these machines the same as on a express st bar because on mine they seem to be breaking back all the time. It acts more like a heavy spring tine than deep soil loosener. I’m not really sure if this is how they are meant to work ?

our st is the same in the lighter parts it doesn't move much but most of the time its going like a spring tine it dose limit how deep it works as it kicks back but dose a good job at around 8 inch deep. only thing I don't like is the squeaking as it move's.put some oil on it but it only lasts a day then starts again

No we don't tow anything behind ours, we struggle enough as it is to get it in places.
We use it on all our ground, one pass with the sl then straight in with the pottinger disc drill

The Low Disturbance legs are less likely to trip back but will smear in wet conditions.

Thanks for replies. I bought a used machine this year intending to put low disturbance tines on in future but with it breaking back all the time I can’t see how it wouldn’t disturb the top, but maybe if they pull through easier they may be ok. Do the springs weaken with age?

This year it's very dry and hard soils making it kick back more than normal.it's taking some pulling but is still doing a good job with the express .230 hp and can only manage 7.5kph. it's a good job they spring back or something would have broken by now

It already has autolube, we messed with it alot in the field was very uneven to start with and all over the place, due the it's enoumous size and weight needs very little disc angle to cut in

I picked it up for £8k which i thought was a bargain, all in very good condition just got a leak on a hose somewhere at the back developed today

How did you get on with yours in the end? Just had a look through the classifieds and they are not much money for a lot of metal. Is the unevenness problem surmountable with the right setup? Have you still got it?

Most people had a cultipress if running a prolift solo so you can level the ground up after it’s settled. The ST version due to the greater number of times might not be so bad.

We got it working a treat in the end, just do one pass with the solo at about 8" depth

Then 1 pass with 5m dynadrive, then leave it til spring and drill wheat straight in, were drilling today it's going in perfect

I’d hate to disappoint you, but, it took me 4 years to get our fields level again after using one of these for 5 years. We had a 4.5 m before buying the 6m, the 4.5m didn’t suffer anything like the 6m. We used to cultipress everything twice to get anywhere near level. Sorry but that’s our experience.

I've been using mine for 5 seasons now fields are fine, they need setting up correctly to keep fields close to level.
One pass with dynadrive levels it up a treat, working very well for me 2 pass cultivating with 2 volunteer kills, one Spray of November time and straight in with drill in Feb/march, that's my experience, great tools far better than a plough that is for sure !
