Sisal baler twine

I'm looking to buy some sisal string for our old International B47 baler as for the last few years have had nothing but trouble with plastic string, and according to dad it always ran faultlessly on sisal.
Does anyone else use sisal on older balers which are troublesome on plastic? If so, where do you get it from? None of our local firms sell it.
Thanks in advance.

Keep searching... your local farmers merchant should be able to get it. It's knot hard to get! ;)

More expensive, but worth it, don't use the plastic stuff, it's terrible stuff for little balers!

We have some here but it is 20 years old so I don't know if it is any use now..... but the price will be right if it's ok

Binder twine is much thinner than baler twine. Different spool size as well, have a look at a binder string box, and you will get an idea

We had a b 47 and a 440 the b 47 did behave better on sisal. There can be a lot of difference in how balers react to string type. We had a Claas Markant 60 which had pathetic knotters. Had the dealer out many times and replaced various parts on the knotters some ourselves and they did some too. There was special Claas string Claas fluroflow that helped bloody expnsive though. If you strip and clean your knotters sharpen the blades it should knot fine. There’s often string especially if it’s had plastic through it wrapped between knotter plates pull it out with pliers. They are a better design than the Claas

Are your twine knives sharp??
That's a big thing on ih knotters
We ran a b47 on sisal years ago as it didn't like poly.
We put new knives in last year. The problem is the quality of the string not the condition of the baler. We had an ex International mechanic out and he stripped it all down and re-assembled, then said there was nothing wrong with the baler, that even the position of the knife arms was spot on. He said it's the quality of the modern plastic string. His advice was to use sisal. Dad reckoned it always went well on it so am going to give it a try.
