As others have said, get one off ebay. Although you may be able to haggle with Sky, you will probably end up paying more in the long run to have the extra stuff Sky Q offers, which it sounds as though you don't want.
I bought a secondhand box for £5 and put put my card in it. I have since spent £10 on 2x new remotes (as a pair, also off ebay), as i tend to find that the remotes don't last forever.

Whenever Sky phone up, they still think I have the original white Sky+ box, even though I keep telling them I have the black hd box.

Id cancel Sky and use Amazon prime if you have a half decent internet connection.

I have Amazon Prime through an NVidia box, and while it's great for the price, the content is pretty limited imo.

How the software manages to stream from an iffy internet connection were Kodi app on the same box can struggle sometimes is beyond me.
