I wouldn't apply pellets now - you need to be able to get them down to the ground. But more importantly there should be no yield losses from grazing at this time of year on WW. Depending on what weather the summer throws at us, do be very vigilant after the combine has been in. It may be worth a stubble treatment depending on your plans.

The current population is because of the mild wet winter we had. If it is dry throughout the summer and drilling time, the current population should have little effect on the new crops. If it's wet - well......................:nailbiting:

Liquid N really pees them off.
Thinking of putting osr starter fert on this year with flat fans at night pre drilling 90lts of n35 that will pee them off . Did a few trials with liquid n sprayed on slugs that i collected and sprayed a bit of n35 on to them from a knapsack not one survived most satisfying watching them shrivel up .

does it matter what form the N is ie urea or AN

An would be better i have tried n35s and n25s in a knapsack on slugs but it will scorch any crop so would have to go on a stubble pre drilling/ or before emergence of osr . it makes their slime go white instantly then just burns them to death.
I recon if you just mix around 3 kilos of an in 10 lts of water and try it in a knapsack on a few slugs up a tramline you will be amazed how quick it will fry them .
The way i see it if on a field scale i can put the starter fert on for the osr and by doing it at night it frazzles a fair few slugs its worth doing as saves buying pellets.

If i can put it on through standard flat fans i think i will buy a few IBCs worth this summer and do the same pre emergence of my OSR at night.

AS at night is like slug napalm, I have used straight AS at night more than pellets the last few years if we have had a in crop problem - it's VERY effective

I also wonder if using UAS based lliquid N for all top dressing has reduced our slug populations ? We normally apply on wet days / early mornings and nights so would probably get good contact !

Just a warning ,,,, if you know you have high slug numbers in fields then be careful at harvest ,,,, we have had to stop the combine in the past due to having as much slugs as wheat in the tank , it was quite bizarre
