Wondered about them but to get a 20l container in think it would need a pretty big shredder.

Yea I think a timber wolf might be a bit excessive for the job. Was hoping somebody might have found a straight forward way of doing it.

Whats the idea behind it? To reduce the amount of size of the waste pile? To produce plastic chips for some other use?

Why not create some sort of compression device then? Heavy steel box about the size of a can on its side and maybe 4 foot tall, large baulk of timber as a compression device, use the telehandler with a bucket full of soil to squash the cans down. If you cut a few slots in the box and the baulk of timber you might ever be able to put some strings around the compressed pile while the weight was on and tie them into solid bales.

the problem with chippers and plastic is the heat generated , it binds the soft warm plastic inside the chipper

Would not be simple to feed into machine anyway, unless you cut it into small strips, which is kind of defeating the object.

An industrial tyre shredder is the best bet, contra rotating teeth that pull anything through and shred to tiny bits,, they rotate very slowly

Recyclers won't like that! Usually prefer them whole so that the machine sorter can seperate the different types of plastic. Best bet is some sort of roller crusher.

How big are the drums, 1l, 5l, 20l?
the cheapest {somewhat} way i can really think of is a second hand waste baler, an air type one {project opportunity maybe......} fill it up and crush it, you'd have to tie it with strapping as HDPE has a memory so will want to expand a fair bit, they might stay crushed enough to satisfy your requirements but better if they could be tied, they would want to fall out id guess so if there was maybe a 20ltr top n bottom it might do the job.

I'd probably have a go with an Eliet Major garden shredder.
A lot of hire shops have them, hire one and have a go.

360 digger tracked over them does a far job Oil that is cause i dont have spray chemicals

Builders bags are the way forward, 25L cans wedge in nicely on a 4x4 pattern.
