Small petrol generator

I am looking to get a small petrol generator, something like 2.5 to 3 kva. Only need a small one as got a bigger one. Was looking at the stephill are they good? Any other brands I should look at or avoid?
I see the step hill do various models up to hire max, is it worth the extra cost?

20 years ago to now I saved money buying a generator/ welder direct from manufacturer, a very good machine.....

Be very wary buying anything unseen from those auctions, we've bought dozens of chainsaws, stihl saws, mowers etc over years and they nearly always something knackered on the engine. Normally a "buy 2 to build 1 decent" job
