smart phone screen film

As heading - is there a simple way to put a protective film on a smart phone face ? Without getting bubbles under it of course . I wondered whether it was a bit like putting vinyl lettering on a vehicle with a drop of soapy water , but without a heads up , I wouldn't try it . I tried to get rid of bubbles on a S6 edge , by squeezing them out from under and cracked the soddin' screen , so I need a bit of advice . Anybody please ?

Make sure the screen is mega clean and completely dust free.
I use a squirt of antibacterial surface cleaner, the kind you would usually use on kitchen worktops. Then squeegee the water and bubbles out. Don't press so hard you break the screen!

Having said that with my iPhones I don't bother with the things anyway, the screen doesn't scratch.

Take it to a kiosk in a shopping mall with an Asian guy selling the protectors and get him to fit it - if he makes a mess he will have to sort it out there and then and will most likely charge you less than the pack of 5 you have to buy to do it yourself [emoji6]

Last one I fitted (few weeks back) was a flexible one, I prefer the gorilla glass ones but couldn't locate one for this phone.
It came with a short section of backing one end, took that off and stuck it on the phone in the correct position, then simply a case of starting to remove the rest of the backing and sliding my finger back and forth across the screen which pushed the backing off as it went. It's the first time I got no bubbles.

@Badshot got it! Make sure you are clean and no dust, no dust where you are working and what you are going to use. Use alcohol to clean it as most household cleaners have silicon in them. Peel part of it across the narrow direction and start it round any buttons and then push it down without peeling further to get the line right up the screen. Slowly pull the film cover off from under neath as you work it down with a credit card (but be careful they can be stiff and uneven). Any bubbles can be rubbed out easily with your thumb but if you have got fibres or dust in there you'll never win.

Thanks for the info . Can't really take it to the "Asian Guy" because it came with the phone - and I didn't buy it from him . I know all too well the snags to pressing too hard to squeeze out bubbles , I did it with an "Edge " phone and broke the soddin' screen on that . £100 + to repair - and only Samsung to do it . Was just a bit lary about using alcohol to clean screen , although I do use isopropyl alcohol to clean other stuff . Thanks again , I'll give it a spin .

Take it somewhere very dust free. Use a lens wipe to clean the screen and a lens paper to dry it. Apply the film as soon as possible, ensuring that no dust settles on the screen. Dust is one of the major causes of bubbles.
Apply the film from the bottom and squeeze it on with either the pusher provided or a credit card. Don't press ridiculously hard but do so carefully and then chase any bubbles that do remain, out to the sides.

There are some screen films that are better than others for less bubbles. I've just applied a film to a large screen and it is absolutely perfect. I don't attribute this only to my modest skill and experience but mostly to the quality and type of film. This one is relatively stiff and virtually sucked itself on.

This is the film I used but for a 9" screen device. I bought it direct, through eBay. Not a hint of a bubble and it has virtually eliminated fingerprints and glare spoiling the visibility and aesthetics of the screen without sacrificing too much contrast. This isn't really relevant to your phone though, because you have a film and because the screen is curved, which brings problems with it. The reference above is for the back and has important disclaimers about size.

Got round to actually applying the supplied film . Made sure that the screen was dust free as it already had a protective pull-off film . Long story short , took great care aligning up to start , peeled a bit , stuck a bit and ended with the film in the correct position , but with 2 quite small bubbles . Took them out with a credit card - I'd never tried that trick before - it was very warm , and I think that helped . So-o-o Success !. I'm entirely with G in G on the glass protectors being bad to fit . I did exactly the same with mine - cracked the curved screen , tried a bodge of a curved glass protector , and broke that too . Very happy with this latest attempt though . Thanks all for the input .
