Hi,

I am looking for a EID reader which plugs into my smart phone, so my smart phone can read my livestock tags...does anyone know if something like this is on the market?

Thanks,
JT

Hi JT,

Sadly we don't have anything that can do this, we do speak to companies that have played around with the concept. However the device that is created always seems to end up been expensive as it does not fit on to the smartphone you have in the pocket. You end up purchasing a bulky android phone with an integrated RFID reader stuck on the back of it.

The issue is the amount of power required to read the LF tags used in Sheep & Cattle today ( 124mhz to 133 mhz). We have taken the apporach of just working with your standard RFID readers. One of our favorites at this stage is the Agirdent AWL200/300 as it has duel way communcation, this means we can sent and recievie infomation from it whilst your phone is on your pocket. So it's a hybrid soultion.

We currnetly use this function with our eWeigh View attachment eWeigh Lifecycle.pdf.

Somebody else might know better but hope that helps.

Thanks

Ewen

Hey @Al R Yes, absolutely. Connect the AgriWebb app to your bluetooth EID reader and/or weigh head and then you can scan a tag, it will wait for a stable weight and then without having to touch the app your weight is saved against that animal.

for cattle, kingswood eid app - available on google. We supply Agrident EID readers, and phone bracket is available, so your phone can be attached tot he reader to make it a one handed operation. brackets to suit both the pocket handheld readers and the stick readers. For sheep, you don't need a phone app - the agrident readers will record all directly unto the reader.
