Snow/spring??

Watching BBC weather at1230 today, the women said there would be more snow in central scotland, but in the south it would feel like spring, we have about 8inchs of snow. I think we're about 8 weeks later up hear if spring comes at all . Most people have there cows in side till mid/late May. A long winter a head of us, when do guys down south get the cows out?

Last week off April to 1st week of May all depends on April’s weather last year was great easy on cows. went out on 13 April and I baled my first cut on the 5th of May which is I don’t thinks ever been done before if ever around my way.
Funny feeling it won’t happen this year though.

Foot of snow here, was 6 inches yesterday morning on top of the snow.

It’s to rain on Tuesday, and be milder so hopefully it goes, as the Hill ewes will not he enjoying this. A real test for them.

Not worried at all about the weather, it quite nice that the snow is lasting, pm trying to get 100 glimmers used to eating cake, so great weather for that job. It going to be a hard frost hear tonight, !!

The novelty of snow has worn off now for this winter. 3 rd decent dump this week. Sitting under nearly 2 ft of the white stuff after last nights efforts. Kale has completely given up the ghost so cows will be in start of next week. Even the kids have given up sledging:p
Not looking forward to the rapid thaw now forecast

Rarely have I had a winter where I have not had an opportunity to get any muck out, tipped on fields. Many a winter its not been ideal, but this year, not a chance, get a couple of days of those real vicious winds, but it does dry the land, to be followed by a real soaking. Had 6 nights of 0 or below, not in succession sadly, but came after severe rain. Got a load of muck on yards to get rid of, and as much, well more actually in sheds to get rid of. First time and reluctantly considering parting with FYM for straw deal, though the way straw price has gone I will probably part with 400t of muck for a couple of 5ft round bales of straw!!

No snow to speak of here this week, hail/sleet showers at most, but Jesus, it is wet. Wet wet wet wet wet wet wet f**king wet.

Even the tops of the harder knowes that would have been bone dry in the past are beyond saturated. Water lies everywhere. There's nowhere for it to run off as the water table is right up.

Looking across to my neighbours ground, he has a field that used to run water across the middle of the field in freakily heavy rain. It maybe happened once every 5 years or so.

This Winter, that field is running surface water from one end to the other every week. Every time it rains again

Unbelievable. Except it's very believable. If this weather pattern doesn't change I can see a lot more cows disappearing from the far west.
