Sheep farming is crap regardless of lamb price :cautious: though for the moment prices this year have surprised me. I for one didn't factor in high global sheep prices offsetting the impact of EU tarrifs Rather than thinking lamb price is up £30 despite Brexit the truth is lamb price is up only £30 because of Brexit, it could have been up more! Exports to EU in first half of year down 25% but this has to a significant degree been offset but our lower production and reduced Irish meat imports.. had those who got out or cut back numbers because of Brexit fears not done we would be looking at rather different numbers!
yes and don't forget more NZ lamb has been going into the Asian market diverted coincidentally since..for one reason and an other..about the same time.

the real reason for giving up sheep could've been that they involved more work than looking after Cows and calves :sneaky:

but very different times now to be fair with just about everything.

Funny how every time a doom laden prediction fails to happen there are excuses, then when covid causes issues it's all the fault of brexit,

The EU is set on a course that a lot of people aren't happy with.
There is no reasonable likelihood that the direction will change.
The UK voted to change its direction but it will take time to plot the best route and more time to reach the destination.
All the current issues are due to other issues such as covid or would have happened in the future anyway as Eastern European countries 'levelled up', their populations would have been likely to return.
Within 10 years, I think many will accept that leaving was a positive thing in the same way it took many years for it to be accepted that the UK was better off having not joined the Euro.
problem is at my age havnt got 10 years to feck on before reaching utopia !!

It was a joke, since the leave vote we have increased the flock

sure leaving the eu was going to change things but no bugger really knew how despite what they may say

Its one of the few things I agree on with a Labour politico , wages do need to be £15.00 as you need that to live on, and guess what , many get the equivalent of £15.00 ph by way of Universal Credit , family allowance and numerous other payments , all of which is picked up by the tax payer , so if you pay staff with a family minimum wage your business is being subsidised by the tax payer .

Its a nice idea but I don't think a lot of business can afford it. I do however think the less well off should have lower tax thresholds to start with.
