Looking at replacing my half inch socket set do I go 6 sided or 12th sided pro and cons please
Twelve point will fit onto rusted/deformed heads better, but won't transmit as much force. Also they are better for access in tight spaces, but this advantage is somewhat diminished today with the very fine ratchets available.Looking at replacing my half inch socket set do I go 6 sided or 12th sided pro and cons please
All mine are snap on and will out turn anything else I've ever used.
Bit off topic but What I do need is a 19mm open ended spanner that the open end is straight with the handle not at a 20 deg angle, cant find one so will have to bend an old one!
Just out of interest why does it need to be straight
I wondered if a pipe nut spanner would do it (not familiar with manitou handbrake)Its for manitou handbrake caliper mounting bolts.
Normal open end will go on but not enough room to get on the next set of flats after spanner hits gearbox so plan is to use a combination of a normal open end followed by a straight end followed by a normal one again to loosen or tighten the locking nuts on the bolts. Its only a problem on the powershft boxes.
I have some Aldi ratchet spammers that are flat? Its for manitou handbrake caliper mounting bolts.

we have some Gedore single ended spanners that came with a punching machine they are straight and very thin just black not chromedYes that would do. Its just to get another bite at it. Cant use anything other than an open ended spanner thinner the better.
