A conference outlining the ways that farmers can understand how their soils resist and recover from differences in land use and to climate change, as well as how best to retain the valuable nutrients within them. The impact of organic wastes on soil and plant health will also be explored. Two farmer case studies will demonstrate how some of these principles have been put into practice.
A practical session will show the wealth of wildlife that exists in soils and how best to protect it by appropriate cultivation and by setting of tyre pressures to maximise efficiency and reduce compaction.
