I swear TFF gets more 'interesting' by the week. Re-read this thread in the eyes of someone new to the forum and 'unfamiliar with it's ways'.

OP: 'sold an item to someone some time ago and he hasn't collected it'.

Rest of forum: 'check if he's dead'.

Quite the moral quandary, one must agree.

Tis the harsh reality of life.

Its not like the OP hasn`t already gone above & beyond.

You never know it might be something useful.....

True enough @ollie989898 , but we are in an industry where the norm is to do it till you drop, hence the acceptance on here that is what may have happened.

mate sold a generator at his farm sale, £6,000 worth, still there 4 if not 5 yrs on, rung the chap etc, told auctioneers - who were not interested.

damn certain l wouldn't leave £6,000 spent, and not collected.

14 years ago, my brother sold an old cider press to a chap who came to see it and paid cash up front. He was going to come soon to pick it up.
It's still here and we haven't a clue who he was or where he was from. I bet if we resold it, he'd turn up to collect the following week. Mind you, I bet it's worth a fair bit more now that 14 years ago.

We had a vintage car business in one of our units who left suddenly and for years, folks would turn up out of the blue asking if they could have the stuff back that they left to be worked on or had lent them. I found it pretty stressful as I was having to sort out the mess left by the tenants as well as facing their unhappy clients who seemed to think I was responsible, Even 10 years later, and with completely new tenants established, it still surfaces every now and then.
I have found that since so many folks have popped their clogs or moved on, I can use their passing as an excuse, eg "It's before my time mate, mum was still here then running things and she's been gone 5 years so no one remembers it".

Guess everyone has good intentions to do things and if it's left past a certain time that they don't want to show themselves up by coming for it.

Find it hard chasing people for a bill or working with boys that leave work unfinished or wont do as they say.....
