Songbird id help

Not really an agricultural matter but thought it would get a better response here. Daughter has come home from preschool with a bird id thing where she has to tick off the birds she has seen and where she saw them. One of them has me stumped I don't know what it is...
The Welsh name they have given it is peneuryn but Google tells me there a yellowhammer which it isn't. I don't know what it is hoping someone can tell me because I can't find it on Google.

Peneuryn brought up GoldFinch. Looks different to the Goldfinch that come here.

The beak makes me think it's from the finch family, don't think colours in photo are accurate

Looks like an American Goldfinch to me but not sure what it's doing in Wales. Maybe whoever set the homework doesn't know the difference between Euro Goldfinches and American ones.

It's not a goldfinch. We have some that nest in a hedge by the yard here that always fly in front when you drive down the road. It's nice to see early summer that there are more of them and they have been successful in rearing their young.

The beak is the wrong colour for a bullfinch, they're usually black and the black head colour does down under the chin.

True. At least they got the British robin not the American one.

It's a bit depressing that it seems like a teacher doesn't know what a British goldfinch looks like.
