Drilled some in mid nov 13 for a bloke looked pretty good mid summer when I went to have a look at it, dont know how it yielded as had a run in with him as he didnt want to pay for any of the drilling I did for him, I did offer to do some spraying for him if he didnt pay for the drilling, did add that I got a bit confused sometimes and added glyphosate to the tank by mistake, cheque soon arrived:rolleyes::sneaky:

That's what I thought when he said it. I said we'll try the first field and see how it goes. Trouble is if we keep having this catchy weather the forage harvester will get away and leave the ground getting wet before I get to it.

I saw somebody today ploughing heavy ground after maize then combo drilling, looked far too wet to be drilling to the point he was driving around all the wet spots in the field with the drill..

Cant see the point myself!

No, this is about the same rain we had last year in the "weather event" between summer and winter, and it still dried up to get another 80ac in then. So am not saying no just yet.

In the middle.
I heard yesterday there is a big contractor no to far south of here who still has 1400ac of wheat to plant yet! 11mm of rain last night will not help with that.

Prob is apart from the odd year like last, and who knows maybe this. It just never normal dries enough on top.

It'll dry again. There's always a chance organs if the land was prepared early in the season it'll take a good lot of weather yet. We're down to 60ha left but it keeps greening up nicely so it can wait. I wish now with hindsight I had left a bit more to keep greening up.

I reckon there is usually one or two good days in Nov and Dec for some drilling. But probably more suitable for a light, mounted tyne drill than dragging one of our big rigs about.

Planted one field yesterday. Ploughed day before after maize. Really nice seedbed. Have 2 more I'd like to plant before Christmas. 1 is cultivated after maize and too wet at the moment. The other will.be ploughed soon.

If it goes in in January I won't worry too much.
