Dare I ask what you are going to do using these spade lugs? I would be concerned about chewing up the dif

Its for pan busting when using the rotavator instead of compacting with tyres. Works similar to a spading machine. Why would the diff be the problem. I know of half shafts breaking but that was in heavy ploughing when they could not get on with the crawler.

Well maybe not the diff but just thinking if you are on serious hard draft it's hard on the transmission. Anyway that's not the case with what you want to do. It sounds a very good idea too

Not so sure about pan busting, they may just put dents in it. From many years ago, I remember the holes left from the spade lugs on fathers Fordson just filled with water. Mind you, when things did start to dry out, the tracks left showed up by fresh green lines.

Fordson lugs work on a different principle. Basically a flat roll with lugs bolted on to produce a stippled effect which as you say filled with water. The wheels I have used in the past are like a knife edge which produces a continuous slit like a subsoiler but the spades allow the water down to the bottom of the slit.

I think they were "Tip Toe" wheels. The lugs, being proud of the disk took all the weight, the centre disk did not penetrate much at all. There was one ploughing at FFF&B match a few years ago.
