Spearhead Multicut PTO shafts

So multicut 430 has cental gearbox and two wing shafts to gear boxes.

blades are so heavy and fast that when it hits something (tree branch or large molehill) it twists the shaft before slipping the clutch.

so shafts wont retract inside each other and cant fold machine.

have shortened shafts as much as possible but now 2 yr old machine needs new.

shafts are welded into yokes forcing complete new- guess what £1600 each FFS

Useless. design is not user friendly is it..

Is this the mounted model with fold up wings?

I was fancying one as an upgrade sometime.

Slacken the clutch off a bit ?

Our 460 slips the clutch before doing any damage the mounted ? 430 must be different

A slip cutch won't protect against shock loading. You need a shearbolt for that.

You can with some skill get the shafts out of the yolks by carefully cutting the welds grinding smooth and knocking them out.

Quite often especially if they haven’t been serviced the plates in the clutch units stick and seize up.

Stripped down and cleaned ( shot blasted if you have one ) and put back together , new linings ,about £25 each, hopefully in the right order it should work perfectly

We have a clatter clutch on our smaller Spearhead 3000. Does the job when you hit something.
