splitting a straw swath

is there any way to split a swath from a 40ft rotary so it could be baled by a narrower pick up baler

Do you mean a small square baler? If so, remove the small wheel at the end of the pick up and just steadily bale half the swath. And then either come back down the other side or use a round baler to bale the rest.

Not too complex if you have a twin rotor machine - see @yellowbelly 's video. I'd say it was much harder for a single rotor or straw walker machine as you've got one single stream coming off the back though the Agricar video does seem to be from a walker NH.
